A delegation from the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC), led by Jon Wilkes, has met with Agriculture Minister Abdul-Rahim Jassim in Baghdad to discuss cooperation in the agricultural sector. Company representatives at the meeting outlined their specialisations and expressed readiness to provide technical support to the ministry.
Areas discussed included tissue culture, date palm production, infrastructure rehabilitation, fertilisers, and agricultural equipment, as well as research, horticulture, and desertification control technologies. The minister highlighted recent achievements in the sector, including the resumption of rice cultivation in southern provinces following improved water availability.
Both sides agreed to continue cooperation in support of agricultural development. The meeting was also attended by directors-general of the Agricultural Research Directorate, the Horticulture and Forestry Directorate, and the Desertification Control Directorate.
