Iraq's new ambassador to the United States, Krikor Der Hagopian, has presented his credentials to President Donald Trump at a formal ceremony at the White House.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Der Hagopian conveyed greetings from the Iraqi government and stated that his mission's priorities would include following up on outcomes from the Prime Minister's recent visit to the United States, building a new era in Iraqi-American relations, and deepening strategic ties, including political, economic, investment, and security cooperation.
He succeeds Nazar Al-Khirullah, and according to local media, is the first Armenian Christian to hold the position.
