Iraq's Ministry of Planning has held talks with the World Bank on a financing proposal for water and sewage projects in Baghdad.
The meeting, chaired by Undersecretary for Technical Affairs Dr. Maher Hammad Johan and attended by the Technical Undersecretary of the Secretariat of Baghdad, discussed financing options, implementation mechanisms, and timelines for projects to benefit Baghdad Municipality.
Participants reviewed lessons from a previous World Bank loan to the Secretariat, which remains incomplete, with an emphasis on shortening implementation periods, accelerating on-the-ground results, and avoiding the challenges encountered previously.
The meeting also examined project priorities, requirements for new project inclusion, and the suitability of proposed financing mechanisms with Iraqi government priorities.
