Eleven projects worth 21 billion Iraqi dinars (roughly $17.8 million) were approved for implementation next year in al-Hindiya district, eastern Karbala, according to Hindiya's Mayor.
“The local administration gave the thumbs up to 11 projects as part of the Provincial Development Budget (PDB) in al-Hindiya, (20 km) east of the city of Karbala, for implementation in 2011,” Abbas Abad Abbas al-Shimari told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The projects include:
- three new schools;
- power networks;
- sewage pumping stations;
- the construction of a municipal building;
- the paving of several rural roads up to 20 kilometers;
- the setting up of water networks in a number of villages; and
- the building a phone network.
