Iraq Vice President Adel Abdulmahdi has stressed the role of civil society organizations in achieving a long-term sustained development in the country.
This came during his speech at a development conference held in Diwaniya, which was attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Cash and financial capabilities must be developed to achieve a real sustained development with a promising future,” Abdulmahdi noted.
The conference, organized by the Tawasul Center for Development Research and Civil Dialogue in cooperation with the Faculty of Education in Qadissiya University, tackled issues related to environment, health, housing, economy, education, and industrial and agricultural studies.
The conference was attended by more than 1,000 participants.
Diwaniya, the capital city of Diwaniya province, lies 180 km south of Baghdad.
