A new road is to be constructed in Arbil at a total cost of ID5.5 billion Iraqi dinars to help reduce traffic in the city, Arbil’s governor said on Saturday.
“The amount has been allocated from the provincial development project budget,” Governor Nozad Hadi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The new 17-kilometer-long road will reduce traffic on the Shaqlawa-Arbil road and will serve villages located along it, the governor explained.
Arbil, the capital city of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, lies 349 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. It hosts the headquarters of the Kurdistan region ministers and parliament.
