Semi final agreements have been reached to change parts of the Habaniya Airbase in al-Anbar province into a civil airport.
"The process is part of the al-Anbar investment plan," Mizhir Hassan, head of the al-Anbar Investment Commission, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency on Monday.
He said that a civil airport in al-Anbar will contribute to the province's economy.
