Is Iraq "the Next Big One"?

Following its survey of 10 Iraqi cities the market research organisation TNS Mena says Iraq could be "the next big one" for consumer spending.

The company's CEO, Steve Hamilton-Clark, said:

Considering the economic slowdown in the developed world, more and more clients would like to enter the Iraqi market which has intrigued marketers for years, however until now there has been very little information available.

They found that over 50 percent of Iraqi consumers feel that the nation is headed in the right direction and have an optimistic view about the economic and political situation in the country, while 32 percent say that now is the time to buy consumer durables, which, he says, "highlights the potential for marketers".

How confident do you feel about Iraq's future? Are you living in Iraq and planning to increase your spending? Please let us know how Iraq looks to you in the comment section below.

I think Iraq is very promising country. In spite of the big strike of terrorism, specially in Baghdad, but still Iraq is going forward in healing the economic situation. Oil is one of the biggest field, more and more discovering of oil and gas in many sites. Electricity which is still for a long time a perminant problem is being solved quickly. That means all the factories and companinies will ru nand doing well. The tourism field is developed as well. Iraq contain the ancient civilaizations and the holly shrines of the prophet Mohammed family, the messanger of Islam. The north of Iraq is very beautiful natural place.Iraqi government adopted a plan to send about 10000 students to study abroad, in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and other countries. Construction and accomodation field is also attract attention of government and people here in Iraq. There a lot of efforts and investment are done to overcome the old problem.
