During an official visit to Syria on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al Jaafari met Syrian President, Bashar Al Assad, and Foreign Minister, Walid Al Muallem.
Minister Jaafari stressed in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart that the visit is part of Iraq's diplomatic endeavor to communicate with all world and Arab countries, especially the neighboring countries, adding that Iraq is keen to talk with Syria about issues such as terrorism.
He stressed that terrorism, which is being fought by Iraq and Syrian, will not stop here; it will extend to the entire world, therefore, everyone should realize the war against terrorism is a world war.
Minister Jaafari referred to Iraq's keenness on finding a peaceful solution for the Syrian crisis, asserting the importance of supporting the efforts of the UN envoy, Staffan de Mistura.
For his part, the Syrian Foreign Minister welcomed the Minister Jaafari, considering the visit as a prelude for exchanging visits between the two countries.
Jaafari also held a meeting with the Syrian President, Bashar Al Assad, and discussed with him the recent developments in the region and the world. The two sides stressed mutual understanding and cooperation in different issues regarding counter terrorism; of the Islamic State.
