"No Foreign Pilgrims Allowed" in Iraq for Arbaeen

Baghdad has decided to bar all foreign pilgrims from visiting Iraq for this year's Arbaeen season due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, an Iranian deputy minister said.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Hossein Zolfaqari said he has been informed by Iran's ambassador to Baghdad about the plans for the mourning rituals marking Arbaeen, the religious gathering in commemoration of the third Shiite Imam.

Iran's envoy has quoted the Iraqi officials as saying that they would not allow any foreign pilgrims to visit Iraq for this year's Arbaeen season considering the coronavirus restrictions, Zolfaqari added.

Each year, millions of Shiites flock to the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites 40 days after Ashura.

It's my request to Iraq Government to please ask Iraq doctors, and medical professionals into the current study about Vitamin D3,and how certain research is claiming as Vitamin D3 possibly a cure for Corona Virus or preventing? Also at least allow visitors who do not have corona to do Arbaeen in Iraq? Also can consider to allow only to come directly to Baghdad, enter Karbala, and allow short visit of one week?
So like people travel on 17 Safar arrive on 18,do Chehlum on 19 Safar, stay 3-5 days extra, and then leave.

A warm suggestion to Iraq government regarding Arbaeen this year!

    For Iraq locals:

Allow Iraq locals to attend Karbala for Arbaeen, but only if they submit medical report that their Corona test is negative 3 days prior to the day of Arbaeen! If report is negative they can come to Karbala on the 18th and leave on 21st of Safar, preferably in own personal transport, but if travel by bus, then leave one seat empty in each row,sit with social distancing!

    For Others (International):

Allow International travelers but only if they are to travel in a group, and all members must submit medical report to group leader, where report must be negative of Corona, and group leader submit to Iraq government the medical reports of all group members who want to travel by at least 15th Safar and then allow to travel by 17th Safar and all go back to their homes in one week time!

Maybe if only allow travellers who test negative for Corona, and only allow to visit directly Karbala, stay in Karbala, and then leave is considerable, and making the trip short,so only one week instead of two weeks!

Asalamulaikum,it's me again, one more suggestion is that how about Iraq asks locals as well as international travellers for 2 reports?
To make Arbaeen as safe as possible, but still allow visitors as well locals in other cities of Iraq?

One report of being negative of Corona, and second report of Vitamin D3 being normal/good amount in the body? As latest research suggests that those who have good vitamin D3 in their bodies have very less chances to catch corona, and even if they do catch, their bodies can fight it off! Please it's my warm request to look into this matter!

Hopefully IN SHA ALLAH Iraq allow if both standards meet!

Not losing hope IN SHA ALLAH we will do Arbaeen in Karbala this year too!
