Iraq Launches Integrated Rubber Manufacturing Project

By John Lee.

The State Company for Rubber Industries and Tires, one of the companies of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has signed a partnership contract with the private sector to establish an integrated industrial project for specialised rubber products.

Director General Eng. Haider Nasser Dhaher said the project comprises three main production lines:

  • Rubber bearings: 3,000 units annually
  • Bridge expansion joints: 5,000 linear metres annually
  • Bullet-resistant rubber blocks: 15,000 blocks annually
  • Rubber conveyor belts (textile and steel cord types): 84,000 square metres annually

The initiative is expected to supply infrastructure projects with locally manufactured products, facilitate technology transfer, and create employment opportunities, while reducing reliance on imports.
