Used Tyres Recycled into Industrial Products

By John Lee.

The State Company for Rubber Industries and Tyres, part of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has processed 170 tonnes of used tyres into industrial products as part of a recycling project implemented in partnership with the private sector.

According to Director General Haider Nasser Dhaher, the output from 2025 included a range of materials derived from tyre waste, supporting both industrial use and environmental management.

The project produced:

  • Tyre-derived fuel (TDF)
  • Metal wires
  • Rubber granules
  • Ground iron

The company said the initiative aims to support domestic industry while reducing environmental pollution by converting rubber waste into usable economic outputs.

Dhaher added that the project reflects efforts to maximise resource utilisation and turn environmental challenges into productive opportunities.
