US tech giant Apple has been officially registered as an accredited digital platform provider in Iraq, following completion of all requirements under the country's regulatory framework for digital platforms and services.
According to the Communications and Media Commission (CMC), the accreditation covers Apple's App Store, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Arcade, and Apple Ads services. CMC chief executive Baligh Abu Kallal said the registration allows Apple to offer these services within a formal regulatory framework aligned with Iraqi law.
Abu Kallal noted that accrediting international digital platforms is part of a broader strategy to align global companies' services with Iraqi legislation, protect user rights, support the digital economy, and develop the investment environment in the information technology sector. He added that the CMC continues to work with major global companies to complete licensing and accreditation procedures.
