Turkish Firm signs MoU for Smart Water Management

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on smart water resource management has been signed between Iraq's Ministry of Water Resources and Turkish firm Kolaysoft. The agreement was signed by Minister Muthanna Ali Mahdi Al Tamimi.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, the MoU provides a framework for cooperation on smart water management, digital transformation projects, and the optimal use of water resources. The minister noted that the agreement carries no financial obligations for the ministry.

The scope of the cooperation includes:

• Development of an integrated system for monitoring and measuring surface and groundwater, and collecting and managing data
• Preparation of monitoring and analysis programmes for water usage and consumption points
• Adoption of remote meter-reading devices and sensing technologies
• Development of training programmes for ministry staff
• Cooperation on digital transformation systems in line with national priorities
• Development of a geographic information system (GIS) to identify water source locations, facilities, and usage points, linked to digital maps
