Basra province is to allocate ID200 billion ($170m) to upgrading the province’s sewerage systems, and a further ID100 ($85m) billion to its electricity supply.
“Basra will get revenues from oil exports and border crossings,” Basra Governor Shaltagh Abod said in a press conference on Wednesday, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He said that the plan will be implemented when funds are available.
The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Baghdad.
