Prometheus to supply Fire Protection for New Nassiriya Depot

By John Lee.

Italy's Prometheus will supply its ProFlex passive fire protection systems for the New Nassiriya Depot Project, where China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd (CPP) is the EPC contractor.

The project, developed by the State Company for Oil Projects (SCOP), involves the construction of a new crude oil storage and handling facility on the border of Muthanna and Dhi Qar provinces. It includes a tank farm, water intake station and an off-site pipeline system.

The tank farm is designed to include seven crude oil storage tanks with a capacity of 66,000 cubic metres each, two 23,000 cubic metre surge tanks, and two 10,000 cubic metre fire water tanks, along with an export pump station, metering systems, power generation, water treatment and supporting utilities. The off-site pipeline network will extend for around 22 kilometres.

CPP has appointed SNC-Lavalin International to carry out the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), while retaining responsibility for detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. The end user of the facility will be the Dhi-Qar Oil Company (DQOC).

Prometheus' ProFlex systems will be used to provide jet fire protection for critical equipment across storage, pumping and pipeline infrastructure.
