Minister of Trade, Dr. Mustafa Nizar Al-Aani, has held discussions with the CEO of the American Global Medical Services (AGMS) Dr. Dr. Aizen Marrogi, on expanding economic and healthcare cooperation and strengthening the presence of US companies in the Iraqi market, according to Ministry of Trade media.

Discussions focused on the possibility of establishing a US-run hospital in Iraq, aimed at transferring advanced medical expertise and contributing to the development of the country's healthcare infrastructure, with the goal of improving the quality of medical services available to citizens.

The Minister expressed the Ministry's readiness to provide the necessary facilitation to support the initiative, highlighting efforts to create an attractive investment environment for reputable international companies, particularly those from the United States, in line with government objectives to attract high-quality investment.

Both sides also reviewed procedures to ease the participation of foreign companies seeking to invest in Iraq, and agreed on the importance of continued coordination to assess future investment opportunities that could support economic and service-sector development.

In March 2025, AGMS proposed building a comprehensive medical city in Baghdad, which would include a 200-bed cancer hospital, a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, a nursing college, and a training academy.
