A clothing factory in Mosul has reopened following rehabilitation and a return to full production. The Waladi clothing workshop, part of the Ready-Made Garments Factory in Mosul and affiliated with the General Company for Textile and Leather Industries, was refurbished with funding from Germany's KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, German Development Bank) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The facility houses 80 sewing machines, along with embroidery machines, specialist pressing and stitching equipment, and advanced fire suppression and early-warning systems.
The reopening was attended by the ministry's undersecretary for planning affairs, Ahmed Abdul-Jabbar al-Karim, and the Governor of Nineveh, Abdul-Qadir al-Dakhil, representing Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and Minister of Industry Mohammed Nouri Ahmed.
On the sidelines of the event, the undersecretary visited the non-woven fabrics (SMS) workshop to review its current status, progress, and production capacity.
