Iraq-Germany Partnership for Integrated Waste Management

A partnership agreement for integrated waste management has been signed between the General Company for Carbon Economics and German firm Sutco RecyclingTechnik GmbH, with support from the Iraqi Ministry of Environment and the German Embassy in Baghdad.

The project aims to develop an integrated waste-management system covering the collection, transportation, and treatment of approximately 6,000 tonnes of waste per day, with plans to produce high-value fertilizers and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

It is also expected to support job creation, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to the modernisation of Iraq's waste-management sector.
