Iraqi Dates Expo Planned for Late October

By John Lee.

Plans are under way for an Iraqi Dates Exhibition, scheduled for the end of October, aimed at promoting the export potential of Iraqi dates and strengthening their position in domestic and international markets.

The first meeting of the preparatory committee was held by the Private Sector Development Directorate of the Ministry of Trade, chaired by Director General Dr Malik al-Durai'i, with representatives from the Iraqi Dates Council, the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, and the Iraqi Traders Association in attendance.

The meeting covered logistical and organisational requirements, including selecting an appropriate venue and space in coordination with the General Company for Exhibitions and Commercial Services. Participants also reviewed the events agenda, promotional campaign strategies, and plans for inviting local and international companies, government bodies, and relevant institutions.

Dr al-Durai'i stressed the importance of coordination between the public and private sectors, and of working to a unified plan to support domestic produce, open new export channels, and strengthen investment partnerships.
