Iraq Controls its Northern Exports, but Ankara Sets the Timetable

While Baghdad appears to have won the fight over who controls crude oil pumped in Iraqi Kurdistan, it has not won control over when that crude can flow at full capacity.

The Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline, Iraq's main export route other than the Strait of Hormuz, runs through Turkiye. When Iran effectively shut the strait during its war with the United States and Israel this year, Iraq's dependence on Turkiye stopped being theoretical.
