EU-Iraq Trade and WTO Accession Talks

Iraq's Minister of Trade, Mustafa Nizar Jumaa, has met with European Union Ambassador Clemens Smettner in Baghdad to discuss expanding trade and investment cooperation and advancing Iraq's bid to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

According to the Ministry of Trade, Jumaa called on the EU to continue supporting Iraq's WTO accession process and invited the ambassador to participate in the 50th Baghdad International Fair, including the possibility of hosting a dedicated specialist exhibition on the fairgrounds.

The EU ambassador affirmed the bloc's interest in developing trade and economic cooperation with Iraq and removing barriers to bilateral exchange.
