Progress on Japanese loan-funded port development projects in Iraq has been reviewed at a meeting between the General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) and representatives of the Japanese loan authority. The meeting was chaired by GCPI Director General Abdullah Ati Abdullah.

According to the Ministry of Transport, discussions covered completion rates for ongoing projects, the proposed site for a new floating dry dock, and a ship repair city (Madinat al-Masafin) project. Infrastructure requirements for both projects were also reviewed.

The meeting underlined the importance of coordination between relevant departments and alignment with the Transport Minister's directives on port infrastructure development and strategic project delivery.
