G4S Secure Solutions (Iraq), a leading provider of risk mitigation and secure support services, has been awarded the contract to provide aviation security at Baghdad International Airport (BIAP) by the Iraq Ministry of Transport (MoI). The contract, which is initially for two years, mobilised successfully on 2 January 2010.
G4S, which is the world’s leading provider of aviation security, will have a team of over 600 employees, including 500 Iraqis, working on the contract. The G4S team will provide all aspects of the airport’s security including: project management; operational, logistical and administrative support; physical security for Checkpoint 1, the terminal and airside; as well as a Quick Reaction Force (QRF). G4S will provide 24 hour security services to the existing Nineveh terminal as well as the re-opened Babylon terminal.
G4S is committed to supporting the Iraqi Government in developing an internationally credible Iraqi Civil Aviation capability. G4S has worked closely with the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority and the Government of Iraq, as well as the previous incumbent, Sabre, to ensure a seamless handover of responsibility.
