Bulgaria to Sell 500 Armoured Personnel Carriers to Iraq

The Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, has reportedly negotiated a deal for the supply of 500 MT-LB armoured vehicles to Iraq.

According to a report from the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA), the deal was sealed on Thursday in the presence of Iraq's Acting Minister of Defence, Sadun al-Dulaymi Minister, (Sadoun al-Dulaimi), at the Hemus 2012 International Military Equipment Exhibition.

The vehicles have a price tag of EUR 300,000 each, making the deal worth EUR 150 million.

The Prime Minister said that the MT-LB armored vehicles had been produced in Terem's plants in Targovishte and one MT-LB would shortly be sent to Iraq for tests.

Armoured vehicles from Bulgaria? Bullshit, why Bulgaria, Iraq is rich country and deserves a better deal, but I tell you it will be easier to have illegal comissions and bribes dealing with with the ex communist than to deal with descent country like Germany, britian, Japan or the US. I hope there is someone who is following this and oneday will hold those miserable politicain to account, poor Iraqi people.

please correct your numbers. as always iraqbusiness-news makes a complete hash of the NUMBERS! which stops you being taken as a serious primary source. I checked directly with BTA and the value for the project is 150Mn Bulgarian Lev! not euros. This is equivalent to about 75M euros, or a unit price of 150k Euros. This is similar to the price of a prime-mover tractor / heavy duty truck and is not overpriced.
