Iraq's Ministry of Oil is reportedly planning a new pipeline system to transport and export crude oil via two northern routes: Basra-Haditha-Fishkhabur and Haditha-Baniyas.
According to the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA), the project is intended to diversify export routes and reduce dependence on the main southern export terminal.
A meeting to discuss the project's technical and operational requirements was chaired by Nassir Aziz, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Extraction Affairs. He stressed the need to accelerate implementation and complete negotiations with a consortium comprising UCC [Urbacon], TI Capital and Chevron regarding investment in the project on a build-operate-own-transfer (BOOT) basis.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of Basra Oil Company (BOC), as well as representatives of North Oil Company (NOC), Maysan [Missan] Oil Company (MOC), State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), and the Studies, Planning and Follow-Up Directorate.
