IPBL and IFC Training on Risk Management for Iraqi Banks

By John Lee.

A specialist training course on risk management and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards has been held for staff from a number of banks operating in Iraq.

The course was organised by the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL) in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. It covered the integration of environmental, social, and governance considerations into risk management frameworks and banking decisions, and aimed to raise awareness of international ESG standards and sustainability practices.

According to the IPBL, the course forms part of an ongoing collaboration between the two organisations to develop the capabilities of Iraqi banks and support the adoption of international best practices in risk management and governance.
