Trade Expo and Land Freight on Iraq-Egypt Agenda

Iraq and Egypt have discussed measures to facilitate land freight between the two countries and the possibility of hosting a "Made in Egypt" exhibition in Baghdad. According to Iraq's Ministry of Trade, the talks took place on the sidelines of the 118th ordinary session of the Arab League's Economic and Social Council.

Minister of Trade Mustafa Nizar Jumaa met his Egyptian counterpart, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations. Topics included streamlining land freight procedures to reduce transport costs and improve trade flows, and exploring a "Made in Egypt" expo in Baghdad to allow Egyptian companies to showcase their products in the Iraqi market.

Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination between relevant bodies, and of greater private-sector participation in cross-border trade.
