A British company has held talks with Iraq's Ministry of Agriculture on expanding technical cooperation in tissue-culture date palm propagation, acclimatisation techniques, and date production.
The ministry's Horticulture Directorate received a delegation from Date Palm Developments (DPD) to discuss knowledge transfer and potential support for agricultural infrastructure and the fertiliser sector.
Dr Hatim Karim Al-Ghazi, Director General of the Horticulture Directorate, underlined the importance of drawing on successful international scientific and practical experience. The delegation expressed readiness to provide technical support and transfer expertise to Iraq.
During the visit, the delegation toured a greenhouse facility dedicated to acclimatising tissue-culture seedlings and observed growth stages, plant health conditions, and the technical procedures in use.
