Iraq's Ministry of Trade and German Liaison Office for Commerce & Industry in Iraq (AHK Iraq) are working to complete the legal registration of the German trade office in Baghdad. The administrative deputy minister of trade, Sattar al-Jabiri, met with AHK Iraq's representative Martin Hinkelmann and his accompanying delegation to discuss the process.
According to the Ministry of Trade, al-Jabiri said a joint meeting is planned, to include the Ministry of Finance, the German Embassy, and the General Tax Authority, along with Hinkelmann and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, with the aim of establishing a clear legal framework for the office's operations. Also present at the meeting was Malik al-Durai, director general of the Private Sector Development Department.
Al-Jabiri noted that trade relations between Iraq and Germany had moved from the aspirational to concrete steps, referencing the Prime Minister's recent visit to Berlin. Hinkelmann expressed appreciation for the Ministry's commitment to completing the registration procedures.
