Iraq completed 1,120 cross-border freight trips under the TIR transit system in September, with cargo moving from Turkey and Europe towards Gulf states and Jordan.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the journeys were carried out by the General Company for Land Transport, a subsidiary of the ministry, and operated under formal request procedures. Shipments entered via the Ibrahim al-Khalil border crossing and exited through the Safwan and Trebil border posts.
The ministry said the figures reflect growing international road freight activity through Iraq, and support its role as a commercial corridor linking Turkey and Europe with the Gulf and Jordan.
The TIR system has been in operation in Iraq since April 2025.
