A new associated gas processing and utilisation system (GCS) has been commissioned at the second separation station of the Garraf oil field in Dhi Qar, with an operating capacity of 15 to 22 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd). The opening was held under the patronage of Oil Minister Basim Muhammad Khudhair al-Abadi.
According to the Ministry of Oil, the Director General of Dhi Qar Oil Company (DQOC), Said Zuhayr Shalaga, said the project will raise the total volume of associated gas processed at the field to 37 mmscfd during the first phase of gas utilisation operations.
The project was completed through the efforts of national staff at Dhi Qar Oil Company, in coordination with Petronas and subcontractor Italfluid. The project forms part of the Ministry of Oil's efforts to expand associated gas utilisation, reduce flaring, and limit the environmental impact of burn-off operations.
